Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. It determines the actions that we take to keep children safe and protect them from harm in all aspects of school life. As a school we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils.

The actions that we take to prevent harm; to promote wellbeing; to create safe environments; to educate on rights, respect and responsibilities; to respond to specific issues and vulnerabilities all form part of the safeguarding responsibilities of the school.  As such, this overarching policy will link to other policies which will provide more information and greater detail.

Our Safeguarding policy can be found at the bottom of this page.

Pupils know that adults will listen and help with any concerns or worries they may have.

Ofsted - October 2023

The safety and well-being of our children are always of the highest priority. As a school we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. We make every effort to provide a safe and welcoming environment underpinned by a culture of openness where both children and adults feel secure, able to talk and believe that they are being listened to.

We maintain an attitude of “it could happen here” where safeguarding is concerned.

The purpose of this policy is to provide staff, volunteers and governors with the framework they need in order to keep children safe and secure in our school and to inform parents and guardians how we will safeguard their children whilst they are in our care.

The school works closely with the safeguarding teams at Hampshire Council, via the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). The MASH is a single point of contact for all safeguarding concerns regarding children and young people in Hampshire.

Anyone can report a concern to this team by calling:

  • phone 0300 555 1384 during office hours 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30am to 4:30pm on Friday.
  • phone 0300 555 1373 at all other times to contact the Out of Hours service.

Our Child Protection policy can be found at the bottom of this page.

These policies are reviewed annually, and all staff are trained in the identification and reporting of any concerns which might suggest that a child's safety or well-being is at risk at least annually and more frequently as the need arises.

We ask that anyone coming into school who has any concern about the safety or well-being of any child raises this immediately with one of the safeguarding leads.
